#123🚿 You must be willing to fall.
Facing your fears is the beginning of knowledge
I’m on a mission to put the “Personal” back into Personal Development
Shower thought🚿: When learning to jump you must be willing to fall.
“Jump” — Miles’ exclaims as he peers over our backyard patio deck into the unforgiving grass. “Jump”, he says it again, hyping himself up for what’s to come.
We did this all weekend. I had the opportunity to spend 3 days with my soon to be 2 year old while Jordan was away.
He’s big into jumping. When he woke up, he told me about it (and about how his “muncle” jumps out of airplanes). He practiced in the backyard, at the park, and on our bed.
Each time he goes to jump, I see fear and excitement in his eyes. He desperately wants to jump, but has yet to take off and land with two feet.
Fear is holding him back (and as a parent I’m grateful for his natural risk tolerance). He knows what it means to fall, as all toddlers do.
For now, I’ll help him along, provide encouragement, and wait.
Wait for when he peers over the edge, faces his fears, and takes the leap.
Because facing your fears is courage.
And you need courage to grow.
THANK YOU for making it to the end!
