#122🚿 Why your survival instincts are failing you...
Developing your "Thrival Instincts"
I’m on a mission to put the “Personal” back into Personal Development
Shower thought🚿: The instinct to thrive
Recently I was turned on to the AppleTV series “Five Days at Memorial”. It’s an eight episode retelling of the horrible, life threatening danger at a New Orleans hospital during Hurricane Katrina. Floodwaters rose, power failed, heat soared, and care givers were forced to make heart-wrenching decisions.
I haven’t seen the show yet, but living in Florida, I know a bit about hurricanes.
In the eye of the storm — it’s all about survival. Our human instincts kick in. We humans are a resilient bunch. We’ll go to great lengths to protect ourselves, defend our family, and help our neighbor.
We’ve developed this survival instinct over millions of years — it’s our innate way of acting in a way that keeps us “alive and safe”.
But, outside of survival events, letting your survival instincts shape your daily decision making is a terrible way to life your life.
And that’s precisely how most people live life. In fear.
In fear of:
The government and politics
Not having enough money
Economic/financial collapse
Overseas wars
Developing your “Thrival Instinct”
What if instead of focusing on merely survival — you sought to flourish? That’s what I call developing your “Thrival Instincts”
That’s the notion that we are born to reproduce, invest, yield great harvests, help others, and create lasting legacies.
We can start developing this intuition just by being aware.
Before you make your next big decision, ask yourself — “Am I acting out of survival, or seeking to thrive?”
THANK YOU for making it to the end!

Jonathan, That's a real eye opener way of looking at decision making!! Lately , with our family's recent crisis , I was definitley in survival mode and fearful and it wasnt until I relinquished control of my power to God's power that I began seeking to thrive. I would conclude with changing Fear into Faith makes a real difference.
